History of The Fromeway
The Denning family has been associated with the Fromeway since it was first built in the mid 19th century. Originally a butchery, with its own slaughterhouse, it later served miners with cider and beer and was known as "Huish Lane Beer shop".
In the late 1930's, a licence was obtained to sell wines and spirits and the name "The Fromeway" was adopted. John Denning is the fifth generation of our family to hold the licence here. The butchery, "Denning Bros.", has continued to the present day in adjoining premises, though without the slaughterhouse!
