The Mendip hills are beautiful, there is bird watching at Chew Valley lake and the Kennet and Avon canal offers endless opportunities for walking, cycling or just gongoozling (watching the canal boats!). Longleat, with its exciting Safari park, is within easy reach and the Bath and West showground is also close by. The heritage city of Bath is only 8 miles away and the Cotswolds just a little further.
The nearby beautiful Cathedral city of Wells and mythical Glastonbury, bordering on the famous Somerset levels, are well worth a visit. Bristol, with its dockland regeneration, the rebuilt SS Great Britain and Brunel’s famous suspension Bridge is also an interesting place to spend the day. There are several golf courses nearby and pony trekking. At Midsomer Norton there is an indoor swimming pool, squash courts and tennis courts.
